چکیده

Originally designed for one-day cricket, this paper considers the use of the DuckworthLewis method as an approach to resetting targets in interrupted Twenty20 cricket matches. The Duckworth-Lewis table is reviewed and an alternative resource table is presented. The alternative table is constructed using observed scoring rates from international Twenty20 matches. A desideratum of a resource table is monotonicity in both the rows and columns corresponding to wickets and overs respectively. Consequently, a Gibbs sampling scheme related to isotonic regression is applied to the observed scoring rates to provide a nonparametric resource table. Taking into account the more aggressive batting style of Twenty20 compared to one-day cricket, the resultant resource table is seen to possess sensible features. A discussion is provided concerning the use of the Duckworth-Lewis method applied to Twenty20.

Resource Estimation in T20 Cricket

This paper investigates the suitability of the Duckworth-Lewis method as an approach to resetting targets in interrupted T20 cricket matches. Whereas the Duckworth-Lewis method has been adopted in both international T20 matches and in the Indian Premier League, there has been growing objections to its use in T20. In this paper, we develop methodology for the estimation of a resource table desig...

We compared the movement patterns of cricketers in different playing positions across three formats of cricket (Twenty20, One Day, multi-day matches). Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence cricketers (n = 42) from five positions (batting, fast bowling, spin bowling, wicketkeeping, and fielding) had their movement patterns (walk, jog, run, stride, and sprint) quantified by global positioning sy...

Optimal Lineups in Twenty20 Cricket

This paper considers the determination of optimal team lineups in Twenty20 cricket where a lineup consists of three components: team selection, batting order and bowling order. Via match simulation, we estimate the expected runs scored minus the expected runs allowed for a given lineup. The lineup is then optimized over a vast combinatorial space via simulated annealing. We observe that the com...
